BACKROUND
CRS is a Non-profit organization registered with the Malawi Regulatory Authority (MACRA). The station was established in 2014 and has broadcasts across the central region of Malawi on the following frequencies: Salima & surrounding areas 93.4 MHz; Kasungu & surrounding areas 100.0 MHz;Ntcheu & surrounding areas 102.0 MHz; Dwangwa & surrounding areas 105.3 MHz.

WHAT CRS FM DOES
Chisomo radio employs deliberate effort in provision of accurate, balanced and timely information and participatory/ reactive adaptation actions that prepare for unforeseen, known or potential future impacts. The station under Chisomo foundation, undertakes projects to alleviate vulnerable populations from famine, poverty and illiteracy since the radio’s catchment area is drought disaster prone.

CRS’s current footprint embraces dominance of listenership and is lakeshore biggest radio station directly serving this community, being the most popular mass media vehicle. Chisomo Radio Station (CRS) provides an established platform from which service products/service providers and companies can increase mileage and realize cost recovery rapidity, at minimal rates, bring products and services to the attention of the central region’s urban, peri-urban and rural communities.

Comprising a culturally eclectic population, ranging from community members to small business entrepreneurs, local government representatives and farm dwellers, the region provides us with a listener LSM profile spanning from 4 – 10.

Chisomo Radio Station (CRS) has been frequently initiating OB link-ups, broadcasting from key events. To ensure balanced content over its 7-day 17-hour broadcast schedule and engages in participative dialogue with community leaders and residents alike; provides a wide range of musical entertainment; a popular daily magazine programme focusing on the family, health and women’s issues; youth- participation forums; educational, community health, and cultural programmes; sports coverage, and the opportunity for all to interact on air with current issues affecting communities towards development and growth.

We also on a regular basis produce PSA’s (public service announcements) for various government departments, and non-government organisations.
