Lilongwe based upcoming gospel musician, Frank Kaunda is set to release his first DVD album entitled “Nafuko” on October 1, 2018.
Speaking in an interview with Malawi News Agency Monday morning, the gospel and traditional artist expressed pleasure that fans have welcomed him despite that he is a new comer in the music industry.
He also expressed gratitude to those who have assisted in the development of his DVD, some of them are Pastor Paul Kamanga, Wongs Nyirenda, Mr. Kacheto, Raphael Majamanda and Esau white.
“Nafuko is my second album which is mixed with songs from my first album “Alimwaine”, but this is the first time I have produced a DVD. I joined the music industry because I feel I have a gift to exhibit. The DVD is carrying messages of family, gospel as well as real life stories,” he said.
The artist has so far released two albums. His first album “Yesu Alimwaine” was released in 2015 which was not available on the market because of financial problems. The Nafuko CD was launched on July 20, 2018 and contains the same songs as the DVD.
Kaunda has since urged Malawians to support him by buying the DVD at K1, 000 per copy. He plans to produce 5, 000 copies as a starting point.
“I am not having any show on the launch of the DVD but I will just release it. I will sell the DVD myself so that I can earn something since piracy is rampant in Malawi,” said Kaunda.
He also revealed his plans to produce another album next year (2019) if everything goes well with the first DVD.
The DVD has been produced by Augustine Kambalikena at Kanema Visual studios. It comprises nine songs including Chikondi M’masewera Chabe, Nafuko, Mphini yobweleza, Sipuni, Yesu Alimwaine, Mundikoze mtima, Achekeka, Mama and Kanditule.-Mana
