By Chimwemwe Kamdende – Mana.

Police in Ntcheu on Monday arrested a 32 year old man for allegedly assaulting his 11 year old son for coming home late.

Ntcheu Police Station Deputy Spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Rabecca Kwisongole confirmed the development and identified the man as Tchaya Tongole.

Kwisongole said on Thursday, February 13, 2020, the son was coming from playing with his friends when he arrived home and found his father angry.

She said Tongole started reprimanding the son for late coming and started beating him with a rod while he had locked away his wife in the house to restrict her from intervening.

“We have indeed arrested Tchaya Tongole for injuring his own son. He will appear before court soon to answer a case of acts intended to cause grievous harm which is contrary to section 235 of the penal code,” she said.

Meanwhile the child is receiving medical treatment at Ntcheu district hospital.

Tchaya Tongole hails from Mingora village in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Kwataine in the district.
