Mob kills man in Chiradzulu

Police in Chiradzulu are hunting for unknown suspects for allegedly killing a 43-year-old man on August 2, 2021 at Mikolongwe area in the district.
Chiradzulu Police Spokesperson, Inoncent Moses identified the deceased as Tavina Kasenda of Muhasuwa Village,Sub Traditional Authority (STA) Mpunga in the district.
“Preliminary investigations unveiled that Kasenda was suspected to have been stealing borehore spare parts within the area and was at large such that community members were hunting for him,” he said.
Moses added that Kasenda was caught in the act of allegedly stealing borehole parts and was assaulted and burnt to death.
He said police and medical practitioner from Namitambo Health Centre visted the scene and carried a postmortem which revealed that death was due to severe burns.
According to Moses, investigations are underway to arrest of the alleged perpetrators of the mob justice.
Police in the district are appealing to members of the community to desist from mob justice as it compromises the administration of justice.
