2023 TNM Super League leaders Silver Strikers FC will square off with rejuvenated Malawi Armed Forces College FC (MAFCO) in a tricky home fixture at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday.

The bankers are unbeaten in eight games, but were held to what they may see as a disappointing 0-0 draw against Mighty Tigers, before beating struggling Bangwe All Stars FC and Kamuzu barracks FC  .

MAFCO FC are currently placed seventh on the league standings – seven points behind leaders Silver Strikers after collecting maximum 6 points from Extreme FC and Moyale barracks, in Prichard Mwanza first two games as head coach.

In an interview on tuesday, sports analyst Willy ‘Immigration‘ Chabwinja told Chisomo Radio Station that the reserve bank sponsored side will be looking to extend their point advantage at the top of the table in this much anticipated encounter.

“The bankers will be looking forward for nothing but a win in order to extend their lead, saying its is a clash between two teams coming off wins in their most recent fixtures, which makes this game unpredictable.

Paul ‘khado‘ Ndlobvu, the MAFCO  defender and Captain, has set his sights helping his fellow soldiers defeat the Bankers at their own backyard

“Silver Strikers have a very good squad. There are a lot of good players so we are not going there undermining or respect them. We want to fight and hopefully at the end of the game we will get maximum points.”

Speaking during a press briefing on thursday in Lilongwe, ahead of Sunday tricky home fixture against  Salima – based instructors, Silver Strikers  coach Pieter De Jongh  said they are looking for a positive result which means victory.

“The team is coming from a very difficult game against Kamuzu Barracks but we are expecting a tough match as well. We respect every opponent and we respect Mafco FC as well

“We are playing at Bingu National Stadium which has a big good pitch. We can play the way we want and we are looking for a good result and are motivated after last week victory,” he said.

Second-placed FCB Nyasa Big Bullets host Ekwendeni Hammers on Saturday at Kamuzu stadium, with the potential to overtake Silver if the latter slip-up.

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are third with 17 points from 8 games so far but will expect away success when they visit bottom side Extreme FC, at Civo Stadium who are winless this campaign.

In other fixture on Saturday, Karonga United will be seeking to out smart Mighty Tigers when they host third-bottom Kau-Kau, at Karonga Stadium.

There are also three games on Sunday when Kamuzu barracks host Bangwe All Stars at Champion Stadion in Mponela and Blue eagles welcome ailing Civil Service United at Nakhaka Ground.

At Balaka Stadium, ailing Red Lions host giants’ killers Chitipa United, as Moyale face Dedza Dynamos at Mzuzu Stadium.
