World Relief Malawi has appealed to graduates to utilize skills they have obtained throughout the training and make good use of the starter pack materials.

World Relief Malawi has presented certificates and starter-park materials to students who have graduated from vocational training in Traditional Authority (TA) Malenga in Ntchisi district.

Speaking during a graduation ceremony held at Madanjala Community Day Secondary School ground on Wednesday, World Relief District Coordinator for Ntchisi, Fletcher Mdeni urged the graduates to be innovative in their every day work.

“We do not want to hear that you have sold the equipment and you are just loitering around yet we provided you with the skills and materials. You should consider yourself lucky by being among the beneficiaries of this programme and please utilize the opportunity,” he said.

Senior Chief Malenga promised to follow-up on the graduates to make sure that they are properly using the materials they received.

One of the graduating students, Letina Banda from Tandwe Village who was doing tinsmith, thanked World Relief for the skills she has acquired from the training.

She said has already started bearing fruits as was making money and helping her mother in providing for their family.

“Before the training I was depending on my mother for help but now I can make and mend some metal pails, tins, pots and watering cans,” Banda said.

The 46 graduates had undergone vocational training in baking, motorcycle repair, tin smith, carpentry, hair dressing, tailoring, barbing and brick lying.

They received starter-park materials such as baking flour, cooking oil and pails; tool kit; carpentry materials; sewing machines; solar equipment and hair cutting machines and brick laying materials respectively.
