Political violence takes its toll

Salima south constituency governor for DPP has denied the allegations against DPP supporters that they assorted UTM supporters on Sunday after the rally which UTM conducted in salima.
Last weekend members of newly formed United Transformation Movement were attacked after the political rally in Salima, UTM official quickly blamed members of governing Democratic Progressive Party DPP.
“We believe that DPP members from Salima South Constituency are the ones who did that to our Members.” Said kaliyati at the end of the rally after receiving the news that some UTM members were attacked.
But in a telephone interview with chisomo online, District Governor for Salima South Consituecy, Kasema Ngozo, said unless there is approved evidence that DPP supporters attacked UTM supporters on their way back from attending UTM rally hence the allegations are not true.
He however said the investigations by the police can only bring the truth on the ground rather than pointing out fingers to the mighty DPP.
“It is only police investigations that can prove that we are the ones who attacked UTM members, we don’t know anything about the said attack.” Ngozo quick to defend his party.
Since the vice president Salos Chilima declared that he will challenge Mutharika in the forthcoming elections, and formed his own political party the relationship between the governing DPP and UTM is not that good.
