ACB has confirmed that it has arrested Mr. Thom Mpinganjira

ACB has confirmed that it has arrested the Chief Executive Officer of FDH Financial Holdings Ltd, Mr. Thom Mpinganjira, in connection with allegations that some people wanted to bribe the five judges hearing the high-profile presidential election case.

In a statement released a short while ago, the ACB says Mr Mpinganjira will be taken to court after a statement has been recorded from him

ACB Director General, Reyneck Matemba, says actually the Zomba magistrate has issued an order quashing the warrant of arrest obtained by ACB on whose basis Dr.

Thomson Mpinganjira was arrested Wednesday morning. “I am speechless and lost for words, ” Matemba told Zodiak describing what has happened as evidence of a “rotten judicial system”. He wondered “why travel all the way to Zomba, why at night, and an ex-parte application?”

Meanwhile a magistrate court in Zomba has written off the warrant on whose basis FDH Bank boss, Dr. Thomson Mpinganjira, was arrested Wednesday morning.

The order was issued on Wednesday to allow Mpinganjira to step out of an office at Blantyre Police Station free to rest at his Blantyre home.

According to bureau, Mpinganjira will appear before court on Thursday morning where he will be charged.

Few days ago, HRDC has given the ACB a seven-day grace period to name and arrest the suspects that tried to bribe the Judges presiding over the presidential election case or they will mobilise Malawians to shutdown of the bureau’s offices.

ACB Director General Reyneck Matemba insisted that disclosing the names now will jeorpadise their investigations.
