Man arrested for being found in possession of medical drugs

Bangwe Police on Friday arrested a 52 year old man for allegedly being found in possession of medical drugs without license.

Limbe Police Deputy Publicist, Widson Nhlane said the arrest of George Mkwenda,  was made after well-wishers tipped the police that he was holding a travelling bag containing suspicious items in it.

“The officers hurriedly made a follow up searched the bag which really contained the stuff and he failed to produce the supporting documents.

“Among the recovered drugs are; 10 boxes of diclofenac (100 tablets each), 30 boxes of Erythromycin (100 tablets each) and two bottles of Indomethacin capsules (1000 tablets each),” said Nhlane.

Nhlane said currently investigations are underway to establish where Mkwenda got the drugs.

“Police management, therefore appreciates the cordial working relationship with members of the community in fighting crime,” he added.

Mkwenda comes from Gunda village in the area of Traditional Authority (TA)  Nthiramanja in Mulanje and he will answer a charge of being found in possession of medical drugs without license.-Mana
