Parliament has finally set June 23 as the date for the fresh election, amid protests from the government side.

Debate on the election day matter was conducted in a noisy environment as members from the government side attempted to block the motion.
First Deputy Speaker Madalitso Kazombo has since suspended deliberations for tuesday as,parliament has finally set June 23 as the date for the fresh election, amid protests from the government side.
The motion for setting the Presidential Elections date was moved by Mzimba North MP Yeremia Chihana and seconded by Lilongwe Mpenu MP, Eisenhower Mkaka.
