SALIMA CENTRAL MP HANDS OVER CLASSROOM BLOCK, LAUNCH FOOTBALL LEAGUE IN HIS CONSTITUENCY.

The Member of parliament for Salima Central Constituency, Gerald Kapiseni Phiri, has handed over a classroom block to the staff and pupils of Mlambila Primary School and launch a football league in the district.

The gesture was accompanied with the provision exercise books and pens to the school’s authority for distribution among the students.

In an interview with Chisomo Radio Station, Phiri said the move is expected to help enhance quality of education in the area, and urged people to take education seriously.

“Despite the challenges being encountered by the community, I will do my best to collaborate with other stakeholders and development partners to bring about development in the area to alleviate poverty

“Education is my priority, I have for the past years also established an Educational Fund to help support needy but brilliant students in the constituency, “he said.

According to Kapiseni Phiri the completion of the classroom block is the fulfillment of a pledge he made to the community.

He said provision of the educational infrastructure is part of his determination to uplift the face of the educational sector in his constituency.

He therefore appealed for both teachers and community members to pay good attention to the facility and ensure it is put to good use.

One of the community members praised Benson Jere praised the legislator, saying the new block is a symbol of encouragement to all children who were not going to school due to overcrowding in classes.

“Am very happy with these initiatives Hon Gerald Phiri, you are really advancing the development agenda. Our constituency will no longer be the same. Construction of the school block is a clear indication that he is implementing what he promised,” said Jere.

Traditional authority senior chief Kalonga, commended the lawmaker for giving education in his area the needed push.

“Am happy with the block. The MP has really considered us in our community. I believe that this school block will energies education to our primary school and I hope we shall see a change in the school enrolment rate which will grow high,” said senior chief Kalonga.

The guests of honor during the handover ceremony include; Minister of Industry and Trade, Simplex Chithyola and MCP member of parliament for Dowa West Constituency Abel Kayembe.
