The stage is set- DPP to hold primaries.

The governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has announce that it will hold its parliamentary local government primary elections from October 8 2018.
The DPP will become the second party to hold primaries after the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) which had some of its primaries marred by protests from losing aspirants.
In a statement issued on Saturday, DPP secretary general Grezeldar Jeffrey said phase one of the primaries will start on October 8 in some districts in the Northern region namely Karonga, Chitipa and Mzimba north constituency. The rest Mzimba will be covered on October 9 while Nkhatabay’s turn is on October 10.
In the southern region the primaries will begin on October 15 in Msanje Lalanje, South west Msanje and part of Blantyre.
In early interview Jeffrey said that no one will represent DPP without going through the primaries.
“We will be abide by parties constitution, no one will represent the party without going through the primary process.” Said Jeffrey.
