Tonse alliance vows to track down any form of rigging

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Vice President, Sidik Mia has said the Tonse Alliance was ready to track down any form of rigging during the Fresh Presidential Elections (FPE) which is slated for June 23, 2020.

He was speaking on Wednesday at a political rally at Chigumula ground ahead of fresh elections in Nkhotakota district.

Mia said all was set with the Tonse Alliance to claim their victory in the coming elections and he has since warned those who want to rig the elections.

“I would like to warn those who want to rig the Presidential election. We know you and this time around we won’t let you go. You stole our votes in many districts in previous election like in Nsanje, Chikwawa, Mangochi, Blantyre and Mulanje.

“This time around we have deployed our professionals in various districts and we will catch you if you try to rig this presidential election,” he stated.

Mia said that since it was going to be only presidential election, Tonse Alliance will use its MPs, Councilors, governors and campaign directors as some of their monitors to make sure that nobody tampers with the elections.

He emphasized the need for Malawians to vote for the Tonse alliance presidential candidate, Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, saying he was the only candidate that would bring change in the country.

The Vice President said among other developments set aside, their government would upgrade Nkhotakota-Salima and Msulira-Nkhotakota roads that have so long been neglected by the current government.

Campaign Director for MCP, Moses Kunkuyu challenged the multitudes at the rally that he was going to leave politics if DPP still emerges a winner in the coming presidential elections, saying DPP has not changed anything in the country since 2014 and now people need change.

Member of Parliament for Nkhotakota Central constituency, Peter Mazizi asked his supporters not to be carried away by people moving around villages demanding IDs for them to take government loans.

He said it was a campaign tool and DPP gimmick to rig the coming elections.

Mazizi urged UTM-MCP leaders to consider reconstructing Kariba jetty and a waiting shelter at the dock in the district to ease problems that people face when they board a ship.

Malawians are expected to go to polls for fresh presidential elections on June 23, 2020 after the constitutional court nullified last year’s elections over widespread irregularities.
