Travellers stranded for three hours due to intolerance

Travellers in over two hundred vehicles were stranded Saturday at Enukweni along M1 Road – about 35km from Mzuzu to Karonga.

Vehicles failed to give each other way on Enukweni Bridge which has one lane and needs to be upgraded to two lanes.

Some stayed at the place for over three hours.

The road at Enukweni is in bad state and frequently gets washed away by floods.

Currently a contractor is on the ground working on a diversion ahead of the road and bridge maintenance.

It took First Lady’s security detail intervention to clear the deadlock.

The First Lady was coming from her mothers’ tombstone unveiling ceremony in Rumphi.
