African Football President Involved In Mob Justice, Given Huge FIFA Ban

One of African football’s chiefs has been slapped with a decade-long ban from all football-related activities by FIFA.

It was announced this past weekend that Guinea-Bissau FA president Manuel Nascimento will not be able to take part in any football-related activity for the next 10 years after facing punishment from the authorities.

According to African Football, he was reportedly involved in a shocking incident of mob justice back home, but despite this, was still looking to remain in charge of his country’s football association for a third term.

FIFA, however, intervened on Saturday and handed him a 10-year suspension for his wrongdoing, saying they had video evidence that was used to charge Nascimento.

“The adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has found Mr Manuel Nascimento, President of the Bissau-Guinean Football Association (FFGB), responsible for having breached his duty to protect the physical and mental integrity of others, in violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics,” FIFA said in a statement.

“Based on the information, including video material, gathered by the investigatory chamber, Mr Nascimento had breached his duty, as per the FIFA Code of Ethics, to protect the physical and mental integrity of the man who was the victim of the mobbing.
