Nyasa Big Bullets Sunday displayed a five star performance when they whitewashed Kamuzu Barracks (KB) 6-0 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre during the TNM Super League match to consolidate their lead.

Chiukepo Msowoya and Bright Munthali scored a brace each while the other strikes came from Man-of-the-Match, Nelson Kangunje and substitute Mussa Manyenje.

The People’s Team scored their first goal just after five minutes from kick-off through Msowoya.

The vastly experienced striker, who is now the TNM Super League leading scorer with 12 goals, beat a Kamuzu Barracks defender before beating goalkeeper, Bonase Luweya and slotting the ball into the net.

In the 31st minute, Munthali headed home Bullets’ second goal as he connected MacPharlen Ngwira’s well taken cross from the right flank.

Two minutes later, Kangunje added insult to KB’s injury with a volley that left the Lilongwe soldiers trailing 3-0 at half-time.

Kamuzu Barracks came searching for a goal in the second half to narrow the hosts’ lead and came close in the 53rd minute, but Ian Banda’s volley was saved by fantastic Bullets custodian, Rabson Chiyenda in between posts.

The 2016 Super League champions’ woes worsened as Munthali netted another beauty as he headed the ball far post to score his second goal of the match and Bullets’ fourth.

The visitors made some changes but were already deflated and hopeless to find a consolation goal.

In the 74th minute, Bullets introduced Dalitso Sailesi for Righteous Banda and three minutes later Msowoya netted his second goal of the match to take his TNM Super League tally to 12 goals this season, surpassing Stain Dave of TN Stars and Civil Sporting Club’s Raphael Phiri, who have scored 11 goals apiece.

Ernest Petro and Mussa Manyenje came on for Kangunje and Munthali as Bullets made two final substitutions with 10 minutes of play remaining.

Six minutes later, Msowoya found the back of the net again, however, the assistant referee had flagged for off-side.

Substitute Manyenje registered his name on the score sheet after the Kamuzu Barracks’ keeper Luweya fumbled Petro’s shot and the player, who has now reverted to his former position of striker from right winger, simply tapped the ball in to make it 6-0 in the 88th minute.

With two minutes added, Sailesi beat three Kamuzu Barracks players, before he was brought down in the box but the referee ignored Bullets’ appeal for a penalty as he signaled a free-kick to the visitors.

Nyasa Big Bullets have reopened the six-point gap at the summit of the league table, which was narrowed by second-placed Silver Strikers on Saturday following their 2-0 win over Red Lions.

From 21 games, Bullets have now collected 49 points, while Silver Strikers and third-placed Be Forward Wanderers have 43 and 42 points, respectively.

Bullets have now scored 39 goals in the TNM Super League this season, conceding nine and have a 30-goal difference.

Since the reopening of the Kamuzu Stadium, the People’s Team has scored 24 goals from five games in all competitions and conceding only one.

As Kamuzu Barracks were being pruned at Kamuzu Stadium, another Capital City giant, Blue Eagles were being taught soccer lessons in Mulanje.
