Celtic respond to court case saga

Bloemfontein Celtic caretaker coach John Maduka has responded to the dispute said to be threatening their Nedbank Cup campaign, which will continue this weekend.

KickOff.com previously reported that ABC Motsepe League side BTM Sport, formerly known as Witbank Spurs, accused Celtic of using their player in the Nedbank Cup while he was still contracted to them.

BTM boss Freddy Mapulane also last month threatened to take the PSL to court if they fail to take the appropriate measures in bringing Phunya Sele Sele to book and cancelling their cup semi-final clash against Baroka, which is scheduled for this weekend.

Maduka, speaking via a Zoom press conference with media on Wednesday, said himself and the players are not concerned with the dispute as their job is to play on the field.

“We don’t allow ourselves to deal with those issues. We leave those things for management to deal that (Witbank Spurs) case,” said Maduka.

“Our job is to prepare the team and players for the games. We try as much as we can to make sure not to allow external stuff to come in our way, because we have a job to play, so it doesn’t affect us.”
