Crying Adam Lallana pays tribute to 'selfless' Jordan Henderson and reveals responsibility captain takes over 'bad moments' at Liverpool… as Jurgen Klopp and squad present midfielder with framed memento ahead of his Anfield departure

Adam Lallana burst into tears as he paid tribute to Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson during an emotional farewell on Friday.

The midfielder’s six-year stay at Anfield will come to an end on Sunday when his contract expires following the final game of the season against Newcastle.

Lallana was presented with a framed memento by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp during Friday’s training session, which featured pictures of his finest moments in a Reds shirt.

The 32-year-old, who moved to Liverpool from Southampton in 2014, was asked about his close friendship with Henderson during an interview with the club’s TV channel as they looked back at his Reds career.

Lallana became emotional as soon as the interviewer mentioned Henderson’s name but composed himself before delivering a touching tale about their time together.

‘Having been with Jordan throughout the whole journey,’ he said to LFC TV. ‘I’ve been lucky enough to be alongside him when he’s had his down moments. Having been alongside him in his dark moments, a couple of injuries, him being alongside me in my dark moments, injuries… it’s not just defeats, it’s injuries as well.
