'It's easier for Mhango to win Golden Boot'

By Sipho Mlotha – Kick off.

Gabadinho Mhango has a big advantage in the race for the Golden Boot because he plays for Orlando Pirates, according to one of his rivals.

One of the Absa Premiership top scorer contenders says it will be difficult for some of them to catch Mhango because he plays for a more creative team than theirs.

Golden Arrows striker Knox Mutizwa says Mhango just has to stay inside the box and finish what his fellow teammates are creating for him, while at other clubs strikers have to work extra hard to get a goal.

Mutizwa’s brace in last weekend’s KwaZulu Natal derby saw him move second on the scoring chart with 11 goals, three shy off Mhango, who has 14.

“I’m trying, I’m trying my best,” the Zimbabwe international tells KickOff.com.

“Ja I’m trying to get it. Ja there is competition mara you know we are trying everything. Ja eish, but you know I’m struggling to get a hat-trick but if I can get it one day, I think I’m going to catch up with Mhango.

“But hey he’s in form and he’s scoring and he’s playing for Pirates, and so it’s tough but [laughs]. Ja you know that’s a problem… if you are playing for Pirates, yoh! Pirates they create chances every minute. Us, we must grind for chances, we must grind to score goals.

“If you are playing for Golden Arrows, ja you have to work hard, extra hard to score. But at Pirates [Thembinkosi] Lorch can do something, [Vincent] Pule can do something and assist you, but us we must grind.”

Asked if going forward he was planning to emulate Mhango and take everything including penalties at Arrows to boost his goal tally, Mutizwa emphasised team goals.

“Ja but hey, our aim… us, we play as a team. We have to like get to the top eight. Ja but the goalscorer I will see if God is willing.”
