KARONGA UNITED FC DROP POINTS AGAIN AT HOME

Karonga United Football Club dropped two points after a one-all draw against Mighty Wakawaka Tigers in the TNM Super League encounter played at Karonga Stadium on Saturday.
It was not an exciting match to watch especially the first half as both teams were casual and played with the same pace not good enough to register any goal after 45 minutes.
However, Karonga came rejuvenated in the second half as they penetrated Tigers defense penetrating into the penalty box but poor coordination between Allen Chihana and Saulosi Moyo cost them goal opportunities.
However, Tigers scored first with a long-range shot from Trouble Kajani who took advantage of Ingwina Sha Mwa Karonga’s defense communication breakdown in the 58th minute.
It all looked like Tigers would carry the day until in the 87th minute when Karonga’s Davie Tobias equalized after converting a penalty.
Last week Karonga lost 2-1 to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at home.
Speaking in an interview after the match Coach for Karonga United, Kondwani Ikwanga said it’s not over until it’s over urging supporters to continue supporting the team as the league is still underway. He has since promised good results in the next match.
“It is very sad that we are dropping points at home, we are not supposed to have this pressure at home and it is the first time that I’m seeing boys playing with pressure otherwise if we were only to settle down, we could have scored 2 goals in the first half,” Ikwanga said.
On his part, Mighty Wakawaka Tigers Coach, Christopher Nyambose expressed concern on the alleged poor officiation saying referees are killing the game of football in Malawi.
“I don’t like to say negative things about referees but they are the ones killing football in Malawi. Karonga scored from a penalty which they were awarded dubiously. Anyway, I accept the results and I am looking forward to the next match,” Nyambose said.
In other matches played, Mighty Mukulu Wanderers suffered a 1-0 defeat against Extreme FC at Bingu National Stadium while Nyasa Big Bullets hammered Ekwendeni Harmers 4-1 at Kamuzu Stadium.
Karonga is currently on position seven with 11 points after playing nine matches while Mighty Tigers are on position 11 with 9 points from 9 games played.
