Soccer Laduma.

Following their latest victory this past weekend, unbeaten Liverpool achieved a feat no club in europe’s top leagues has ever achieved, and moved one step closer to claiming the elusive league crown.

Liverpool maintained their unbeaten run in the Premier League on Saturday, when they recorded a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in London courtesy of a well-taken goal by Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino.

The result saw the Reds’ points tally climb to 61 for the season, which is the highest-ever by a club in any of Europe’s top five leagues after 21 matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are also now on an unbeaten streak of 38 league matches in total, with their last defeat coming more than a year ago, on 3 January 2019.

According to Liverpool historian Carl Clemente, that run is now the longest unbeaten spell in the club’s history, breaking the record that had stood since 1894 when the Reds went 37 games without defeat.

Liverpool, who have a game in hand, currently hold a 14-point lead over Manchester City this season, and look increasingly likely to be crowned Premier League champions for the first time since 1990.
